July 14 2009 Related Substances (Residual Solvent and Impurities)
Location: Toronto-To be Determined
Gregory Martin, current Vice Chair of the USP General Chapters Expert Committee, will present this course. This course will focus on residual solvents, but will also provide participants with an overview of the global requirements for Related Substances, including residual solvents, impurities in drug substance and drug product and genotoxic impurities. Techniques for assessing how the requirements apply to the participants situation will be discussed, and review of some approaches which have been taken to systematically address meeting the requirements. There will be ample opportunity to discuss questions and challenges from the participants.


July 14 2009 SOP Writing and Good Documentation Practices Montreal
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provide the main forum for the documentation of a Companys systems and operations. SOPs are therefore the most popular documents audited by Regulatory Agencies during GMP inspections to ensure they reflect current practices and are followed as written. This course provides helpful information by presenting topics associated with the writing, formatting, execution and management of SOPs.

This course will first familiarize you with the general Audit process. It will then expand, in detail, on the GMP audit process from planning, preparation to reporting, and follow up actions. There will also be software demonstrations on the creation and use of checklists, schedules, etc. This course will also include class exercises.

This 2-day course and workshop will provide participants with tools to understand the lifecycle concept of product and process control. The concepts behind setting up and implementing a modern pharmaceutical quality system that complements your companys existing procedures will be presented within the context of the ICH lifecycle trilogy (Q8, Q9 & Q10). The workshop will take matters once step further, by reviewing FDAs recently released draft guidance on Process Validation and showing how this document picks up the threads running through Q8, 9 and 10.

TBI BIO 2009 Wrap-Up

TBI Mentorship program moving forward

First announced at the March TBI breakfast meeting, plans for The Biotechnology Initiative’s (TBI) mentorship program are moving along quite nicely, with the mentorship committee anticipating a September launch. Heading up the committee is Jill Osborne who says right now organizers will use the summer months to iron out the final details while setting up a web-based program that will best match participants.
