Lorne Meikle
Lorne Meikle is the past Chair of TBI and is presently the CEO of AFFERENCE Therapeutics a new company that is focused on diabetes research. Just prior to joining AFFERENCE Mr. Meikle was President and Chief Executive Officer and Chair of BCY, a public company on the Toronto Venture Exchange. Mr. Meikle, an economics graduate from the University of Manitoba, has more than 35 years of marketing and sales management, and director experience in the health care industry. He was a member of the senior management groups at Glaxo Canada, Smith Kline and French, Ortho-McNeil and directed the International marketing program at Connaught Laboratories.
In recent years he was President and CEO of Seragen Biopharmaceuticals Ltd., the Canadian affiliate of Seragen Inc., now part of Ligand, Inc. and CEO of GeneSense Technologies Inc., now part of Lorus Therapeutics. In addition to his role in BCY, he was also the President, Chief Executive Officer, Founder and a director of BioCatalyst Yorkton Inc., a venture management company that specialized in the initiation and management of early-stage healthcare companies, served as the President of The Biotechnology Initiative for three years, a Director with BIOTECanada and a Director with the Biotechnology Human Resource Council, as well as several other appointments.
