The Voice of Bioscience in Ontario

TBI On the Move

On August 15th, Rosemarie Childerhose, Sean Kelly, Gerry Mandel and I met with George Ross, Robert Taylor, Ryan Locke and Walter Kushnir to provide MRI with a briefing on the Life Science Coalition and the research results from the survey process. I was very pleased with the meeting, the level of the dialogue and the desire for both the members of the coalition and MRI to work together was reinforced. George Ross outlined his vision for Life Sciences for Ontario and asked for our participation in refining the vision to ensure government and the industry is linked. We discussed focusing our actions for major trade shows to ensure our participation and messaging enhances Ontario. We agreed to work together and to move quickly. I have a call into Robert Taylor to discuss next steps. We (TBI and the Life Sciences Coalition) are going to draft a vision from the many documents that exist and use this as a starting point for our discussions.

Our next steps are to organize a meeting to finalize the definition, and present the survey results to a broader audience. Also we have picked November 19th as a day to have a Life Science Summit to finalize the policy topics on commercialization and capture your input to the process. I look forward to working with all of you as we bring the public policy issues on commercialization of the life science research to the forefront.
